will organize an international scientific conference and workshop in Zagreb and Gornja Stubica, Croatia, which will be held from June 20-23, 2007. The title of the conference is Collecting Folk Medicine Objects and the main focus of the conference will be collection, preservation, restoration, conservation, processing, presentation and valorization of the objects from folk medicine as well as recent scientific research of traditional medical systems and of customs connected with notions of illness and health in different medical cultures of Europe.
The conference will also aim at presenting the most important collections of objects of traditional medicine from Europe and United States of America and the problems the scientists and museum workers encounter in collection and research of such objects.
Special attention will be given to Croatian collections, not only from the field of folk medicine, but also from the history of medicine in general, such as collections containing objects which were used in teachings of medical sciences.
The workshop accompanying the conference will present various procedures and processes of restoration and conservation of folk medicine objects.
